Re-mind-er

Just had a quick but good chat with my creative friend Michael Angel. He told me to look for this, and read it. I had seen it before, but this was a reminder to absorb it again. Being a kind of newcomer to this country (1 year, woo hoo!) I now need to learn more about Ira Glass. He has put it perfectly.

Thanks Angel. x

Ron English visits LA, doing some art.

The food trucks were doing their usual "first Thursday of the month" visit to Melrose Ave last night, and while chowing on the most garlicky fries ever we got to see the new pasting on De La Barracuda. Our friend, Rusty, mentioned that his mate Ron English was in town, and had put some work up on the wall that very day. Ron has been around a while, and is considered one of the fathers of modern street art.

Apologies for the bad photos - I only had my phone on me - but here's a glimpse.

While we were eating, Rusty mentioned that Ron was having an opening that night in Venice, and he could introduce us to him (they were studio mates back in NYC). So, after lobster buns and icecream, it was in the Mini Cooper and off to Post No Bills Gallery on Abbot Kinney Blvd.

It was great to see a lot of people out for Ron English - the space was packed with admirers. The gallery specialises in prints, which comprises most of the show, many at a reasonable purchase price, and of an awesome quality too. It was good to see some of his mixed media, and an oil on canvas that will be hanging at his upcoming show at Corey Helford Gallery, in November.

I managed to snaffle an "Art Brings Life to Death" poster, and Ron kindly signed it - straight to the pool room for that one. This print show will by up until October 30th, so get down there. To follow what Ron is up to, and see better photos of his art, go to his Popaganda website.
